LA’s My Double, My Brother crafts thoughtful, post-folk indie rock that walks the line between the ambitious and the intimate. Starting as the project of friends who met in their college’s music conservatory, the band members began writing songs together due to their common love for indie-rock music.
In 2011, My Double, My Brother self-released their debut LP “What We Found Beneath the Ground” to critical acclaim. The band began playing local shows and touring regionally and became known for their dense harmonies, multi-instrumentation and rhythmic energy.
After a successful crowdfunding campaign, My Double, My Brother recorded their sophomore album “Shelves” with producer Jon O’Brien. The album saw some commercial success and even lead to several placements on TV shows like Teen Wolf, The Royals, and Finding Carter.
With two members of the band moving away for career and family obligations, My Double, My Brother now functions as a trio with Joel Hasemeyer on guitar and vocals, Beau Knechtel on keys and auxiliary instrumentation, and Matt Bushyeager on drums. With this line-up, the band released the singles “Lights Go Out” and “In a Moment” in late 2017 and early 2018. My Double, My Brother continues to play music under this line-up.
